Apartment - Paris 1st district

In this 2-story apartment, located in a magnificent 17th century mansion, the design work consisted of simplifying the volumes up the space, and create a minimalistic and relaxing environment.

The very high ceillings are embellished by a dramatic bamboo chandelier, as well as the natural linen curtains which lie on the light oak parquet flooring. Railings of the mezzanine have been replaced with an open wall containing buit-in bookshelves, a desk and a dressig-room area, leading to the upstairs bedroom. This new design enhances the privacy of that space and organizes the owner’s belongings. Red ochre accents warm the space and enhance the client’s tribal furnishings and artwork brought back from numerous travels throughout Asia and Africa

A little history : this luxurious townhouse was custom-built for the Duc of Orléans, and in the courtyard, there is a vertical sundial which casts the shadow of the afternoon sun in the shape of a semi-circle
